On Monday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Bank of China Chairman Ge Haijiao in Budapest.

Bank of China, one of the world’s largest financial companies, has been active in Hungary since 1997. During the talks, the parties focused on expanding the bank’s business opportunities in Hungary, the Prime Minister’s Communications Department revealed.

Parallel to this meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó spoke positively about the success of the U.S.-Chinese trade and customs negotiations. He emphasized that both China and the United States are Hungary’s most important economic partners alongside the European Union. “We welcome the success of the U.S.-China customs and trade negotiations and appreciate the steps taken towards the functioning of world trade,” the minister wrote on his social media page.

Szijjártó emphasized that stable and cooperative relations between these two major powers were in Hungary’s fundamental interest.
