Through a partnership with Jazzfest Budapest, in 2025, Hungary will be the focus of one of Asia’s most important and longest-running festivals, the Jarasum Jazz Festival in South Korea.
The event, taking place between October 17-19, will feature concerts by the Dresch Quartet, the Bálint Gyémánt Trio, Skylark Metropolitan, and Miklós Lukács, representing Hungary, Jazzfest Budapest revealed.
Th statement recalled that
a partnership between the South Korean Jarasum Jazz Festival and Jazzfest Budapest was established in 2024, the first steps of which were the debut of SINNOI and the Soojin Suh Coloris Trio in front of a Hungarian audience last year, followed by the Hungarian Nagy Emma Quintet in South Korea.
This year’s collaboration included a performance by the Gene Young New Trio in Budapest on May 4, and another South Korean band will make its debut in Hungary in November at Jazzfest Budapest.
Thanks to the successful cooperation, Jazzfest Budapest has been awarded the opportunity to make Hungary the focus country for the 2025 Jarasum Jazz Festival.
They added that
the Jarasum Jazz Festival 2025 image was created by a Hungarian graphic designer, Zsófia Máhr. Her work will also be featured on the festival’s posters.
The three-day jazz festival Jarasum attracts almost 80,000 visitors a year.
The debut of Hungarian bands in South Korea are supported by the Liszt Institute of Seoul and the National Cultural Fund. The organizers are also looking for additional partners to support the performances of Hungarian bands in Asia, the statement said.
