Automotive Industry’s Interest in Hungary Increases

MTI-Hungary Today 2025.04.09.

Hungary provides a stable environment for the automotive sector even amid the current global uncertainties, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said, following a meeting with the industry’s key players in London on Tuesday.

The minister said that the UK, like Hungary, is a very important bastion of the European and global automotive industry. He pointed out that there is a lot of uncertainty in the sector at the moment, as it is impossible to calculate the exact impact of the announced US tariff measures and how they will develop in the future.

“But what is certain is that this global automotive uncertainty increases the importance of those countries, those investment locations that can provide stability,” he stressed.

Hungary equals stability for the world’s automotive players, (…) and that is why the interest of the world’s automotive players in Hungary as an investment location has already increased in recent days,”

he added.

Mr. Szijjártó said that political and economic stability in Hungary is exceptional in Europe. “The extremely robust, large presence of the automotive industry, the presence of the entire value chain, the presence of suppliers, gives automotive players the kind of calm, security, and stability that is much needed in these uncertain times,” he underlined.

Those automotive companies that have brought production, service functions, or research and development to Hungary have all made the right decision, and they all consider their investments successful,”

he continued.

“This is why in recent days there has already been a noticeable increase in interest in Hungary as an investment location in the global automotive industry. Our job now is to serve this interest and turn it into automotive capacity building as soon as possible in this uncertain global economic environment,” the politician concluded.
