Real change is needed, to improve the misguided Brussels decisions and proposals that threaten competitiveness, European security, and European agriculture. The Patriots are the ones who represent real change, emphasized Kinga Gál, chair of the Fidesz-KDNP delegation to the European Parliament (EP) and vice-president of the Patriots for Europe group.
Speaking to Hungarian journalists after the European Parliament’s plenary debate on the outcome of the March 20 European Council meeting, Kinga Gál said it was “as if Europe is not living in the same reality” as its voters: EU leaders blame everyone else for what is happening in Europe today.
Both the EP group leaders and the European Commission President drew the same conclusion during the debate, as if the Commission’s failed policies were not to blame,
she pointed out.
The EU is a peace project, created to guarantee peace and security for its citizens. But today it is doing the exact opposite.
A radical change is needed in the face of the @EU_Commission that does not represent change and the coalition of the left-wing groups and the EPP,… pic.twitter.com/MfSoWlrrR8

Gál emphasized that the European Union is a peace project, created to guarantee peace and security for the citizens of its member states. Reacting to the European Commission’s latest proposal for European citizens to build up a 72-hour emergency reserve, she said it was war panic. It is dangerous because it creates fear, it is unfounded, and it makes no sense, she added.
The European Commission is making proposals as if there were a war in the European Union. In contrast, after three years of devastation in Ukraine, what Europe needs most now is to support the diplomatic efforts of the new U.S. administration towards a ceasefire and peace, the Fidesz MEP argued.
This could be Europe’s opportunity to put an end to this war. This is the opportunity to push for an early ceasefire, to start peace talks. Europe should be at the peace table,”
she stressed. In contrast, the European Commission is putting forward proposals such as the so-called White Paper on the future of European Defense, encouraging defense investment to help bring more weapons into Ukraine. Strengthening Europe’s defense is important, but strengthening Europe’s capabilities cannot be combined with further arming Ukraine, she stated.
The European Commission has made a number of bad decisions in the past, Gál noted. Among them, the politician mentioned the migration pact, which is the biggest security challenge facing European citizens today. There are hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants in Europe, and this should be dealt with, and not cosmeticized and the reality should not be concealed, she emphasized.
Another debate, same distraction. Brussels caused the damage with the Green Deal & Migration Pact — now they’re offering band-aids. Postponing deadlines won’t fix bad policy. We need real change, not cosmetic tweaks. #PatriotsForEurope #CSDDD #CSRD #GreenDeal @kingagalMEP pic.twitter.com/jy3438PMUP

Speaking about Marine Le Pen’s conviction, Gál remarked that in the European Parliament, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is feared for European democracy, even though the dark day for European democracy was yesterday in Paris, when Le Pen’s chance to stand in the elections was taken away by a “totally unfounded court decision.”
In a democracy, the right to stand for election and the outcome of elections should not be decided in court. The Patriots stand by Marine Le Pen under all circumstances, added the Fidesz politician in a statement.
