One of Hungary’s leading defense technology companies was selected as the winning bidder in the passive radar system procurement procedure of the Estonian Ministry of Defense’s central procurement agency. Pro Patria Electronics’ high-tech passive radar systems will be installed at Estonia’s border points.

The strategic placement of the systems will play a key role in monitoring Estonia’s airspace and strengthening its border protection. “We are extremely proud to bring 100% Hungarian innovation to the Baltic region. This contract not only contributes significantly to Hungarian defense exports, but also demonstrates the high quality and international competitiveness of our technology,” said Géza Szathmári, CEO of Pro Patria Electronics.

The passive radar system, developed exclusively by Hungarian engineers, offers cutting-edge capabilities in detecting and tracking air targets without emitting visible signals. The technology is particularly valuable in today’s complex security environment, providing enhanced situational awareness with a low electromagnetic profile.

In these challenging times, we are honored to be able to significantly contribute to the defense of a NATO member state. Our passive radar system will play a vital role in monitoring Estonia’s airspace and strengthening its border security,”

added the CEO. The contract represents a significant step forward in defense cooperation between Hungary and Estonia, further strengthening ties within the NATO alliance, and underlining the growing importance of the Baltic region in the European security system.

Pro Patria Electronics’ winning bid highlights Hungary’s emerging role as a provider of advanced defense technologies.

The company’s success is expected to open up further opportunities in the international defense market, showcasing Hungarian expertise and innovation in the field of military technology. The deployment and integration of Hungarian radar systems into Estonia’s defense network is the beginning of a fruitful partnership for both countries, which will foster their technological cooperation and enhance regional security in the years to come.
