Schneider Electric is expanding its Duna Smart Power Systems (DSPS) smart factory in Dunavecse (southern Hungary), which opened last year, by building a new 18,000 square meter facility at a cost of €44 million, announced the France-based company.
Schneider Electric is developing its capacity in line with market demand, while maintaining the principle of gradual development, they wrote. The new plant will focus on the manufacture of low-voltage distribution equipment, thus adding this product to the manufacturing competence of the Dunavecse factory. The production and testing of low-voltage switchgear will be carried out in Dunavecse, while the design work will be carried out mainly by other Schneider Electric competence centers, in collaboration with the company’s ZEG plant in Zalaegerszeg (western Hungary).
The investment is being carried out with the support of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).
The development will be carried out on the 10 hectares of land already owned by Schneider Electric. Last May, the company inaugurated the Duna Smart Power Systems (DSPS) plant in Dunavecse, one of the company’s largest facilities in Europe.
The smart plant is the main European production center for the company’s latest SF6-free medium-voltage switchgear.
In recognition of Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency, the company has been named the world’s most sustainable company by TIME magazine and Corporate Knights, reads the release.
“I am proud that the realization of this new part of the plant will enhance DSPS’s production competence, as we will introduce the manufacture of a new range of products. This is another milestone in the life of the company that will significantly strengthen our presence in our home country and also in Europe, with high added value activities and engineering,” emphasized Zsolt Veres, Country President at Schneider Electric Hungary.
