Hungary’s first “New Space Economy” course has been launched under the leadership of the Obuda University Space Lab. The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the rapidly developing space industry, which in addition to traditional institutional space activities, is shaping the future economy with new business models and technological innovations, the university announced on their website.
The university is committed to the development of space research, the space industry, and the space economy, Rector Levente Kovács stressed in the university’s statement. In this spirit, the Obuda University Space Lab was founded last autumn, which brings together the space-related activities of the institution and ensures the coordinated development of the field.
Its main mission is to inspire and educate the space scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and professionals of the future, while actively contributing to space research, innovation, and scientific and technological development,”
said the rector.
The statement reads that the university currently has several space research projects in the areas of Earth observation, satellite development, and space suit design. The “New Space Economy” course, which introduces the latest trends in the space economy to interested students, was launched in mid-February.
The course is open to all students of Obuda University, regardless of their major. It is currently taught in English and also offers students the opportunity to develop their own innovative ideas through practical project work. Plans include a course in Hungarian and the launch of full programs in space engineering and space exploration.
