It has been six years since a foreign performer arrived at the Valley of Arts, but now the ice has been broken. The Scottish band Franz Ferdinand will be the star performer of the all-arts festival, bringing their newest album, The Human Fear, with them. In addition, the audience can expect hearing the best of the Hungarian music scene and numerous other programs.
The cream of the crop of Hungarian musicians will perform at this June’s Valley of Arts festival (in Kapolcs near lake Balaton), but there will also be a surprise that has not occurred since 2019. It has been almost six years since a foreign band performed at the all-arts event, but that will change this year. Franz Ferdinand is not only preparing for the Hungarian audience with their usual energetic performance, but
they are also presenting their new album, The Human Fear, for the first time in Hungary.

The band tried to capture one of the most important emotions that makes most people feel alive. Every big change, every big step comes with fear, but after the vulnerability comes a liberating feeling. This is what feeds their new album, and they want to pass this liberation on to their audience.
Another interesting thing about The Human Fear is that it also has a Hungarian aspect.
The cover was inspired by Dóra Maurer’s art, titled “Seventh Rotations.”
According to the band, the painting is the same as their music: direct, intense, and deep, but vulnerable. It is a work that cannot be overlooked.

The Valley’s contemporary gallery awaits visitors with approximately 65 works and discussions with the artists during the festival, where people also have the opportunity to meet Dóra Mauer and several others. During the ten days in addition to the concerts, almost every other art form will be present, with nearly 3,000 musical, theatrical, literary, and visual arts programs taking place during the summer event.
