The Budapest Forum is essentially an anti-conservative conference financed by the U.S. taxpayer and the Budapest municipality.Continue reading
The scandal around the U.S. federal agency, USAID‘s global financing of left-wing and anti-conservative projects is growing, Hungary Today have exposed their partisan and anti-democratic activities in our region as far back as 2022. Now Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had chimed in on the rogue agency’s activities in connection with its links to the European left-wing elite’s mouthpiece media outlet, Politico.
American journalists have recently alleged that USAID have paid over 8 million dollars in funds to the Brussels news portal, but a closer look reveals that this claim is inaccurate. Although the government aid agency had its own subscription to the media outlet in tune of tens of thousands of USD, the bulk of the 8 million had come from subscriptions from various U.S. government agencies. The amount of funding that Politico had benefited from courtesy of the American tax-payer is still staggering, it reveals a significant interrelation between the Democrat-run U.S. government and the ultra-liberal media outlet, known for its biased activist reporting on Hungary.
Yesterday, in a post on X, the Hungarian Prime Minister had his own say on the revelations.
So apparently USAID financed ultra-progressive Politico in Brussels and basically the entire left-wing media in Hungary under the previous US administration. And they called me “disruptor of the year”… I think the world owes a debt of gratitude to President Donald Trump for uncovering and putting an end to this dark conspiracy”
– wrote Viktor Orbán.

U.S. tech-billionaire and owner of X Elon Musk has reposted the Prime Minister’s opinion adding: “The anti-corruption drive is accelerating“.
U.S. aid has been exposed as financing projects emanating from radical left-wing ideology world-wide for years, such as gender-reassignment surgeries, LGBTQ education programs, as well as amplifying voices supporting mass migration to the West. They were no strangers to the Hungarian scene either. Two years ago the agency’s director, Samantha Power visited Hungary, where she was hosted by Ambassador David Pressman. She has met representatives of NGOs and media outlets known for their anti-government stance and liberal outlook, later announcing significant funding for these groups in the tune of millions of dollars. They have sponsored events organized by opposition groups such as the Budapest Forum in 2023, financing them through some of their proxies, such as the German Marshall Fund.
It is safe to say that in years past USAID, alongside several other U.S. based private and government groups, have managed to tilt the Hungarian civil sector and private media landscape in the direction of the U.S. Democrat’s ultra-liberal global vision, in strong contrast with the conservative and national narrative of the Orbán government that still enjoys the trust of the majority of Hungarian voters.
