Fifty-six Gidrán combat vehicle will arrive in Hungary from Türkiye. The country is committed to the Gidrán vehicles, and will continue to build the armed forces through joint Turkish-Hungarian development, emphasized Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky after his visit to the Turkish Nurol Makina factory.
The Defense Minister pointed out that the Turkish-Hungarian defense industrial cooperation has so far produced outstanding results, one of the flagships of which is the Gidrán project. In the field of force modernization, this program remains one of the most successful initiatives of the Hungarian Defense Forces and contributes to the adaptation to the new NATO capability requirements.
In order to improve the Hungarian Defense Forces’ land and special operations capabilities, we acquired the Gidrán combat vehicles, of which 56 new units have just been delivered.
The combat vehicles are manufactured by Nurol Makina in Türkiye, and the additional electronic, communication, radar, and weapon systems are integrated into the vehicles in Hungary,” the minister explained. In addition to strengthening the excellent relationship with Nurol Makina, Hungary is committed to further expanding defense innovation cooperation with the Turks in order to ensure that the defense sectors of the two countries develop in a mutually beneficial way, the minister stressed.
In total, the Hungarian army will receive 300 Gidráns as part of the Defense and Military Development Program.
“I am happy to say that we have gained valuable experience with Gidrán combat vehicles, not only in the field of operation, but also in the field of economic cooperation and defense procurement. We also have an excellent cooperation with Nurol Makina and our aim is to extend our relationship to other Turkish companies,” noted Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
