The Hungarian team won two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals at the 6th World Ice Swimming Championships in Molveno, Italy.
Ágnes Bakony-Sallai took two gold medals in the 35-39 age category, winning the 100m freestyle and the 50m butterfly,
the latter with a world record of 34.02 seconds,
the Hungarian team told MTI.

Ágnes Bakony-Sallai’s result was particularly impressive as it was her first international competition among ice swimmers.
“Perfect location, perfect weather and an incredible community that I am honored to join. I thank everyone who has cheered and helped me prepare, even those who have been skeptical about this side of swimming, because it has confirmed that this is something special and worth taking on,” the athlete wrote on her social media page.
György Borda (40-44 years) finished second in the 50m breaststroke and third in the 50m backstroke. Mariann Nagy (40-44 years old) came in second in the 100m butterfly.

Bulcsú Lengyel (45-49 years old) finished third in the 50m breaststroke and was part of the first international VIP relay team in the 4x50m freestyle.
The World Championships attracted 752 swimmers, including 12 Hungarians, who competed in 12 events and three relays in 1.6°C icy water.
