BYD, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, is strengthening its presence in Hungary by launching three new dealerships.

At a signing ceremony in Budapest, BYD Europe’s Managing Director, Michael Shu, announced plans to establish outlets in Győr (northwestern Hungary), Pécs, and Szeged (both in southern Hungary), set to open in early 2025.

The new dealerships—BYD Győr AutoWallis, BYD Pécs Schneider Autóház, and BYD Szeged Duna Autó—mark a major milestone in BYD’s expansion. Győr and Szeged showrooms will be managed by existing retail partners, while Schneider Autóház, a partner with over 30 years of expertise, will operate the Pécs location.

Mr. Shu described this development as a crucial step toward establishing a national sales and service network, with further dealership openings planned.

Production at BYD’s Szeged plant is set to begin soon, alongside a dynamic expansion of its product range in Hungary. Recent additions include the TANG premium seven-seater SUV and the SEAL U DM plug-in hybrid model. Early 2025 will see the introduction of the SEALION 7 high-performance SUV, first unveiled in Europe at the Paris Motor Show. These advancements reflect BYD’s commitment to innovation and local engagement.

Since July, BYD has led the Hungarian market for pure electric vehicles (BEVs) and is gaining significant traction among corporate customers.

While official 2024 sales results are yet to be published, the company has confirmed a record-breaking year for BYD Hungary, fueled by increasing demand for its advanced NEVs.

BYD’s expansion and record performance underline its role in driving the adoption of sustainable mobility in Hungary. With a growing dealership network and innovative vehicle offerings, BYD continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the Hungarian automotive market.
