Lőrinc Nacsa, Secretary of State for National Policy, emphasized the importance of unity in Hungarian national policy during his visit to Vojvodina, Serbia.
The politician noted, “Hungarian national policy requires unity and cooperation because the goal is to serve the survival, growth, and strengthening of the Hungarian nation.” Mr. Nacsa highlighted the role of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMSZ), which has been instrumental in advocating for the Hungarian community in Vojvodina for three decades. He praised the VMSZ’s exemplary representation, stressing that
if no one represents the interests of the Hungarians, then the Hungarians will be judged.”
Lőrinc Nacsa also acknowledged the late István Pásztor, the former president of the VMSZ, for his significant role in fostering reconciliation between Serbs and Hungarians. “We were able to develop a form of coexistence that is exemplary for all minorities around the world,” he said, highlighting Pásztor’s work in building joint projects and fostering peaceful relations between the two nations.
On Hungarian-Serbian relations, the Secretary of State remarked on the shared values between the two governments, including Christian values and migration policies. He stressed,
Hungary supports Serbia’s European integration and is trying to help this process,” recognizing Serbia’s key role in maintaining stability and peace in the Western Balkans.
Additionally, Mr. Nacsa emphasized the Hungarian government’s commitment to supporting church buildings, citing their importance in preserving values and community organization. “Churches contribute a great deal to the preservation of values, community organization, the transmission of faith and thus to the survival of Hungary,” he explained. The Hungarian government has renovated 3,700 churches and built 200 new ones in the past 14 years.
In conclusion, Nacsa reinforced the strong ties between Hungary and the Hungarian community in Vojvodina, highlighting the continued support from the Hungarian government in areas of national policy, international relations, and cultural preservation.
