Two more H225M multi-purpose helicopters has been delivered to the Hungarian Defense Forces from the Airbus Helicopters production center in France, announced Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
The Minister said that the new helicopters were delivered to the Defense Forces’ Kiss József 86th Helicopter Brigade in Szolnok (central Hungary) as part of the modernization of the air force under the so-called military and defense development program. “In the interest of the security of the Hungarian people, the development of our defense capabilities and the acquisition of modern equipment are indispensable.
The new high-tech equipment will strengthen the air transport, air force and special operations capabilities of the Hungarian Defense Forces,”

The minister recalled that the ministry has ordered a total of 16 medium-sized transport helicopters from Airbus Helicopters as part of the force development program.
With the newly arrived aircraft, the H225M helicopter fleet at the brigade has now grown to twelve.
In December 2018, the Ministry of Defense signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters, a global helicopter manufacturer company, for the procurement of 16 H225M aircraft under a large-scale military and national defense development program. The first helicopters arrived in Hungary in the summer of 2023.
The H225M helicopter weighs 11 tonnes with a length of 19.5 meters and a height of 4.97 meters. Its maximum speed is 324 kilometers per hour with a recommended cruise speed of 262 kilometers per hour. The helicopter can carry a crew of three and a total of 28 people as standard.
