Patriots for Europe Alliance Holds First General Assembly in Paris

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.11.18.

The Patriots for Europe (PfE) alliance held its inaugural general assembly in Paris, marking a significant step for Europe’s sovereignist forces.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, president of Hungary’s governing party, Fidesz, attended the event, where the alliance adopted its statutes, elected officers, and solidified its commitment to shaping Europe’s future.

At the assembly, Fidesz MEP Kinga Gál was elected vice president of the alliance. In a statement, she expressed gratitude for the “honorable vote of confidence” and emphasized the group’s mission.

We are building a strong Europe, proud of its traditions and based on sovereign nations,” Gál wrote, vowing to “deliver the change [people] voted for and make Europe great again.”

Prime Minister Orbán’s speech underscored the alliance’s significance, addressing the lessons of the recent U.S. elections and the challenges faced by patriotic politicians. He emphasized the need for clear leadership and criticized attempts by the left to stifle political opponents.

The left would do anything to destroy us politically, morally, and legally… They think democracy exists only if they win,”

the Hungarian PM stated, referencing actions against leaders like Donald Trump and Matteo Salvini.

Mr. Orbán also highlighted the left’s failures in governance, accusing them of mismanaging key issues such as inflation, energy policies, and immigration. “Under their leadership, America and Europe became powerless,” he said. He pointed to migration as a unifying challenge for patriots, declaring, “We will not let people in, and those who are already here must be removed.”

Looking ahead, Orbán called for bold leadership and cooperation among sovereigntist forces, noting their growing influence in Europe.

We are the new reality,” he said, projecting optimism about the alliance’s ability to reshape Europe.

Concluding his speech, he reiterated the alliance’s vision: “let’s make Europe great again.”

The assembly showcased the rising momentum of patriotism in Europe, uniting diverse nations with a shared vision for sovereignty and renewal. The PfE alliance’s leaders aim to transform this vision into tangible political change across the continent.
