Concerts, Christmas markets, and a family day will be all part of the festive cultural program in the Buda Castle District. This year, the programs will not only take place at the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár), but will also be held in the impressive buildings of the Buda Castle District, from the Royal Riding Hall to the De la Motte – Beer Palace, and the Palace of Buda Castle, Turizmus.com reports.
The festivities will kick off on December 1 with a concert by the “Lóci játszik” band in the beautiful new building of the district, the Royal Riding Hall. The Hungarian band will also launch a special charity auction. At the concert venue, a photo exhibition will open with pictures of the band’s highlights from the past ten years. The works will be available for online bidding, with the proceeds going to support the Superar children’s choir.
On the second Sunday of Advent, December 8, Hungarian singer Boggie and the Danubia Ensemble will perform a Christmas concert. This unforgettable musical journey will feature special Advent and Christmas songs. On December 15, the third Sunday of Advent, Gyula Szarka, founder of the Hungarian Ghymes band, will perform “The Star of Bethlehem.”
The concert will feature some of the most beautiful and best-known Hungarian folk melodies of the Christmas season.
On the last Sunday of Advent, December 22, a family day will be waiting for children and parents in the Castle Garden Bazaar. The interactive programs and craft activities in the lobby of the Event Hall will be free of charge all day.
In the “Csikós” Courtyard, from Advent to Epiphany, visitors can enjoy a market, hot drinks and festive delicacies, a decorative Christmas tree, and a nativity scene.
A local craft tradition will be revived at the three-day Advent Fair starting on December 20 at the De la Motte – Beer Palace. Here visitors will be able to choose from a selection of artistic works by award-winning designers, as well as from the best of the country’s handicrafts. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the creators of the pieces and learn about the history of the artworks. The fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on December 20-22.
