As reported by Hungary Today, both petrol and diesel prices in Hungary started to fall spectacularly in August, and in September they were below the “psychological threshold” of HUF 600. In October, however, the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East pushed prices up again. According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), at the end of October, the average price of petrol was HUF 11 higher than in the region, while diesel was HUF 15 more expensive.
The current change means that the average price of petrol could fall below HUF 600, while the average price of diesel could rise to HUF 610.
In other words, the gap between the average prices of the two products is widening. It should be noted, however, that average prices mean that there may be a difference of a few forints between individual gas stations.
