The Gala de las Catrinas marked the first official Miss Universe event in Mexico this year, showcasing the beauty and culture of the nation. Nóra Kenéz, the winner of the Miss Hungary pageant, made her way to Mexico City for the occasion, where the Miss Universe World Finals will be held for the 73rd time.

In preparation for the finals, contestants will participate in various events, including a parade through the historic courtyard of the Colegio de las Vizcaínas, celebrating the Mexican Day of the Dead with a charity gala, writes Origo.

This year’s Gala de las Catrinas aims to raise funds for needy populations while highlighting the significance of the Day of the Dead tradition. Mexico is hosting the international pageant for the third time, the last being in 2007.

The event not only celebrates the contestants but also seeks to contribute to local communities in need.
