Budapest will host a major summit of the Western world, bringing together 45-47 heads of state and government on November 7, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán shared in his radio interview.
Highlighting its significance, the politician noted this will be the largest diplomatic event in Hungary’s history, involving not only EU leaders like those from Germany, France, and the Netherlands but also non-EU leaders, including representatives from the UK, Türkiye, the Caucasus region, and the Northern and Western Balkans.
The Prime Minister pointed out that, just last week, Eastern nations met at a BRICS (Brasil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit in Kazan, where key the members of this alliance along with other countries, discussed their strategies.
The Eastern countries came together and decided what they are going to do, and next week the Western countries will meet in Hungary,” he explained.
The EPC summit will address Europe’s economic competitiveness and the upcoming U.S. presidential election. “We are now sitting on the stool, in the corner, while Americans and Russians negotiate,” Viktor Orbán remarked, underscoring the need for Europeans to shape their future together. Former Italian Prime Minister and European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, who recently published a study on EU competitiveness, is also expected to attend.
