On October 27, Ryanair launched its first flights on its new routes to Toulouse and Liverpool from Budapest. The new destinations will be available twice weekly as part of the 2024/25 winter schedule, reports Turizmus.com.

This winter, Ryanair will fly a total of 50 routes from Budapest, including new additions to Liverpool, England, and Toulouse, France. “The route will be operated twice a week, further expanding the choice for Hungarian passengers,” said Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska, Ryanair’s head of Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic countries.

The flight from Budapest to Toulouse departs at 8:45 p.m. on Mondays and 3:50 p.m. on Fridays, and the return flight departs from the French city at 5:50 p.m. on Mondays and 12:55 p.m. on Fridays, for a two-and-a-half hour journey.

Top things to do in Toulouse, also known as the “Pink City” due to its unique architecture made of pinkish terracotta bricks:

  • Visit the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest Romanesque churches in Europe.
  • Taste the flavors of Toulouse’s renowned cuisine. Dishes such as foie gras, cassoulet (a bean and pork stew) and Saucisse de Toulouse (Toulouse sausage) are all an essential part of the region’s gastronomy.
  • Check out the Château d’Eau, a 19th-century water-tower, which was converted into a gallery in 1974 by Jean Dieuzaide, a French photographer. The gallery is now one of the oldest public places dedicated to photography in the world.

Departures to Liverpool are at 2:55 p.m. on Mondays and 3:45 p.m. on Saturdays, with return departures at 5:10 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the same days.

Some must-see sights in Liverpool:

  • Liverpool is famous as the birthplace of The Beatles. Various tours offer fans the opportunity to follow in their footsteps, taking in such famous destinations as Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. Tours also usually include the Cavern Club, where the band made its debut in 1961.

  • Art lovers should check out the Victoria Gallery and Museum. Located in a spectacular red-brick building at the University of Liverpool, the museum includes large collections of sculptures and ceramics, along with an impressive array of paintings.
  • The city is famous as the home of the Liverpool Football Club, hence Anfield Stadium is a must-see for any sports enthusiast planning on visiting the city.
