Hungary Cargo Airlines, which was formed in May, could receive its operating license and in December, the aircraft currently used by Wizz Air could take off on its first flight in the new company’s colors. According to news from the specialist portal Cargo Facts, Hungary Airlines – formerly known as Hungary Cargo Airlines (HCA) – could soon be granted a license to operate a commercial aircraft and could be operating under the new name with its existing A330-200F aircraft from December.
The production freighter is a 2014-built, Trent 700-powered aircraft purchased by the Hungarian government and given to the low-cost airline Wizz Air for operation,
Hungary Airlines told the portal when contacted.
Although Hungary Cargo Airlines only took on the name in May 2024 – it was founded in spring 2021, as Universal Translink Airline Hungary – and started recruiting staff and developing the airline’s image, its website is no longer available. To be more precise, it is available, however everything that could provide information has been taken down.
In its Facebook post, aviation news portal Budflyer, wrote that HCA is now majority owned by a Chinese-Hungarian investor, and that the Airbus A330-200F aircraft mentioned above is operated by Wizz Air on the Budapest-Hangzhou route five times a week.
