Swimmer Dániel Gyurta Elected President of the Hungarian Olympic Academy

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.10.03.

Olympic champion swimmer Dániel Gyurta has been elected President of the Hungarian Olympic Academy (MOA), as announced by the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB).

During the inaugural meeting of the newly elected Bureau on September 7, additional personnel decisions were made. Szabolcs Bényi was elected President of the Budapest Olympic Committee. The leadership of various committees remained stable, with Jenő Kamuti as Chairman of the Fair Play Committee, Ferenc Szalay leading the Economic Committee, and János Mészáros at the helm of the Legal Committee. Other notable appointments include András Bodnár as Chair of the Ferenc Mező Sports Committee, Dr. András Tállay chairing the Medical Committee, and Csaba Sós overseeing the Sports Science Committee.

The Traditions Committee has been dissolved, as its functions were deemed redundant with those of the Mező Ferenc Sports Committee and the MOA. Decisions regarding the media and equal opportunities committees will be made later.

The Bureau also addressed the eligibility of sports for inclusion in the Olympic program, establishing that the Hungarian American Football Association is entitled to delegate a member to the MOB General Assembly, particularly relevant as American football will be featured in the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
