Over 200 Unique Artworks to be on Display at 360 Design Budapest

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.09.19.

Over two hundred design objects and works of art will be on display at the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which will take place between October 15 and 20 in the former waiting room of the Budapest Nyugati station, organized by the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency (HFDA).

The exhibition, held for the fifth time, will feature the works of international and Hungarian designers.

The aim is to introduce the public to the values and opportunities of the design and creative sector, as well as to present the high quality and cultural diversity of Hungarian and international object culture and its centuries-old traditions.

The HFDA has launched three exhibition categories (Brand Product, Collectible Design, and Prototypes and/or Digital Designs) for emerging creators, designers, students of industry and fine arts. Over 90 entries were received, from which a panel of professional judges selected the most outstanding entries. The HFDA has set up a special application for emerging creators, designers and artists, which has resulted in almost 30 young talents presenting their work to the public this year.

For the October exhibition, hundreds of square meters of space will be available at the Budapest Nyugati station to showcase the entries. As well as giving new function to the spaces under reconstruction and renovation, it will also provide an opportunity to showcase the rich history of the historic sites.

The curatorial concept of the exhibition highlights the cultural depths of Hungarian applied art and design, and shows how the rich traditions of Art Nouveau and Art Deco are being reinterpreted in the work of contemporary designers, while at the same time focusing on the circular economy and sustainable solutions.

The event will not only strengthen the links between contemporary Hungarian design brands, industrial and fine artists, but will also provide a meeting point and professional platform for various local and international creative industries.

“From a cultural point of view, design and arts intersect at many points, and this is what this year’s 360 Design Budapest is intended to showcase, which will be held in a historic location chosen in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and Transport, in the former waiting room of the Budapest Nyugati station, the press release quotes Zsófia Jakab, CEO of HFDA.

She stressed that “events such as this are a means of strengthening the creative ecosystem, which in the long term contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the industry, facilitating its internationalization and the global integration of creative industry players”.

The Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency pays special attention to education and knowledge sharing, and therefore offers free, experience-based guided tours for students and teachers of vocational training and higher education institutions.

As in previous years, prominent figures from the international press have been invited to join the event, offering a varied tour of Budapest’s iconic sites, cultural heritage and gastronomic highlights.
