In the interview, airing on Fox News, the former president quoted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on the crises and wars that threaten world security, and praised the country he led, Világgazdaság points out.
The Republican politician noted that he could “end a war between two countries – which the United States has nothing to do with – with a single phone call”.
He also added that in his recently published book, Save America, he has listed several international politicians he has met recently, including Viktor Orbán.
Viktor Orbán… I mean he’s strong. They consider him strong. It’s a good thing, not a bad thing. Runs a strong country,”
Trump emphasized in the interview, airing Saturday night.
The meeting with Donald Trump was first reported by Bloomberg, noting that the trip to Florida heightens concerns that the Hungarian Prime Minister is mediating between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. However, Bloomberg‘s unnamed source stressed that the meeting was purely informal and the former US president did not ask the Hungarian politician to lay the groundwork for a Ukrainian-Russian peace deal or efforts to do so.
The Republican candidate was sharply critical of the European Union, which he said was “exploiting” the United States with its trade rules, and promised to end this practice.
Referring to the US presidential election, he once again called his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris a far-left politician and criticized her for contradicting her earlier positions during the election campaign, which he said were radical, on issues such as allowing domestic energy production and restricting illegal immigration.
