Liverpool FC have started the season well, winning both their games 2-0 in the Premier League, writes Magyar Nemzet. Dominik Szoboszlai has also played his part in the success, and it is no coincidence that the English portals have praised his performance.
Dominik Szoboszlai convinced Liverpool fans last season that he was worth his EUR 70 million purchase price, but the Hungarian midfielder had a poor spring after a brilliant autumn season, receiving a lot of criticism and being left out of the starting line-up. The summer saw the start of a new era at Liverpool, with Jürgen Klopp replaced by Arne Slot. Many predicted that the change would be to the advantage of our national football team captain, as Szoboszlai would fit into the system of the head coach appointed in the summer.
Well, so far Slot is counting on the 23-year-old. Apart from the Hungarian football player, only Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister have played both league games for Liverpool.
Szoboszlai put in a fine performance both against Ipswich and Brentford. The criticisms of the spring have now died down and the Hungarian national team captain’s latest Instagram post is full of hearts and praise.

The Liverpool Echo rated Soboszlai’s performance a week ago, as well as the rest of the starting line-up. Four players – Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konaté, Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Díaz – finished with an eight. The paper noted that Szoboszlai had some good moves in the first half, but was a bit slow at times and received a yellow card.
In his assessment, club legend Jamie Carragher also singled out Szoboszlai, saying the midfielder is playing well under Slot.
A similar opinion was expressed in The Mirror article.
“A year ago at this time, Liverpool fans instantly fell in love with Dominik Szoboszlai, who quickly showed what he could do and impressed everyone at Anfield. Tall and athletic, he was already seen by some as the new Gerrard (Steven Gerrard), and for good reason – his performance deserved the praise. His injury or fatigue, or possibly both, has seen his performances drop, but so far he looks set to be a key player for Slot. He is working hard, he wants to play his part, and he is looking forward to a busy season. Although not everything goes to plan, he always tries to correct his mistakes…” the paper concluded.
Arne Slot just putting me away on his Anfield debut!! #LIVBRE
