In September, the American television channel CBS will be filming in Szeged again, and the creators are already looking for extras for the next season of the FBI: International series, Szegeder reports.
The portal recalls that it is not the first time the crew will shoot in the southern Hungarian city, as scenes to depict Madrid in the first season was filmed in Szeged in September 2021. Then, for a few days, the streets were transformed into Spanish streets and avenues, pharmacies into “farmacias,” and the rector’s office at the University of Szeged into the U.S. embassy.
At the time, the first season of the series was shot mostly in Hungary, with the crew working in Szeged and in various other locations around the country for months. The city center of Budapest, the Buda Castle, the airport of Tököl, Székesfehérvár and Biatorbágy were all on the set – and of course the city center of Szeged, which “played” Madrid in the series.
Based on the advertisement by a casting agency, they are already looking for extras for the Szeged shoot, which will take place on September 2.
FBI: International is the second spin-off of Dick Wolf’s FBI series, an American police crime thriller that follows a team of FBI agents who investigate crimes abroad, mainly in Europe, many of them linked to terrorism. The series premiered in September 2021.
The series follows members of the FBI’s international team, elite Special Agents headquartered in Budapest, but the cast also travels to several European countries – at least according to the story, as there were times when the filming was moved to the Southern Great Plain instead of the Spanish capital.
The story not only focuses on the action and crime, but also tries to show the challenges FBI agents face when they have to work with foreign authorities, including the Hungarian police, who sometimes have difficulty understanding English in the series.
The first part of the fourth season will be released on October 15 this year, shortly after the September shooting in Szeged, therefore it is likely that Szeged will not be included in the first part.
