According to the Romanian press, László Bölöni is one of the candidates for the Romanian national football team’s bench, writes Index.
After finishing top of the group at the European Championship and losing to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, Romanian national team coach Edward Iordanescu’s contract has expired, and he has not yet decided on his future.
The Romanian press has mentioned several candidates as his potential successor. One of them is László Bölöni, who said in an interview with M1 last Sunday that he will no longer be in charge of FC Metz, who are relegated from the French top flight, from next season.
Mr. Bölöni’s name has already been mentioned several times in connection with the Romanian national team,
and the Transylvanian-born professional is considered the most experienced candidate for the position of national team coach.
László Bölöni has now confirmed in an interview with a Romanian sport website, sportpesurse.ro that he is in contact with the Romanian federation, but was evasive about his chances of becoming the national team’s coach. What is certain is that the Romanian press would be very happy to see Mr. Bölöni arrive.
