The German authorities have extradited one of the suspects in a series of attacks in Budapest in February 2023, Police.hu reports.
In connection with last year’s anti-fascist attacks, Budapest police immediately arrested three people, and issued European and international arrest warrants against 14 perpetrators, three of whom have been arrested abroad. One of them has now been extradited.
One of the suspects, Italian citizen Ilaria Salis, was also accused of being part of the violent group and was standing trial in Budapest until recently. She was released from house arrest and returned to Italy, as she won a seat in the European Parliament.
The 23-year-old German national was arrested in Berlin last December on the basis of European and international arrest warrants. The man was intercepted at the Austrian-Hungarian border on June 28, 2024 by the investigators of the Budapest Police Headquarters and taken to Budapest,
where he was interrogated on suspicion of attempted life-threatening battery and attempted assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The suspect refused to confess. He was taken into custody and his arrest was initiated.
