The creation of an effective anti-tank system is crucial for national defense, said Zsolt Kutnyánszky, Secretary of State for Defense Policy, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Vecsés (near Budapest) plant of Dynamit Nobel Defense (DND) Hungary Plc., where anti-tank grenade launcher tubes will be manufactured.
He emphasized that the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war highlights the importance of balancing armor protection and armor-piercing equipment, and the RGW 110 anti-tank grenade launcher is a leading tool in this field. The RGW 110 launcher barrel will be produced exclusively in Hungary by DND.

The Secretary of State stressed that Hungary’s armed force development program aims to create a strong army and an independent defense industry capable of meeting both national and international needs. The Vecsés plant will play a key role in this initiative. He noted that Germany, particularly Dynamit Nobel Defense, is a vital partner in this development, and the plant will be operated by DND Hungary Plc., a joint venture between DND and the state-owned N7 Holding Plc.
The project includes various manufacturing and service facilities. Future phases will focus on enhancing Hungary’s research, development, and innovation capacity and creating conditions for producing complex weapon systems.
To strengthen cooperation, the Defense Innovation Research Institute and DND Hungary Plc. signed a memorandum of understanding on R&D (research and development) activities, with a new R&D center to be established in Kaposvár (South-Western Hungary), marking the first such center outside Germany for DND.
The Vecsés plant will employ about 40 people, with commissioning and trial production expected by the end of Q1 2025 and serial production starting in Q4 2025. DND CEO Michael Humbek described the plant as a milestone in bilateral defense industry cooperation, noting the RGW 110’s significance as a top anti-tank weapon with a launcher barrel being its key component. The RGW 110 is a shoulder-launched missile with a tandem warhead capable of penetrating over 1,000 millimeters of steel armor after defeating reactive armor, with a disposable launcher tube and reusable optical sight and launch handle.
