In his regular Friday interview with Kossuth Radio, the Prime Minister gave a more detailed account of the current developments in Hungarian-German relations.
He highlighted ongoing negotiations with Mercedes-Benz for a significant investment in vehicle production, potentially creating 4,000 jobs in Kecskemét (central Hungary). Orbán underscored the importance of German-Hungarian economic cooperation and described Chancellor Olaf Scholz as a supportive ally.
Mr. Orbán expressed concerns about Europe’s direction, criticizing perceived pro-war and pro-migration stances within certain coalitions and referencing concerns about a “(George) Soros plan.”
He noted that Hungary’s upcoming EU presidency will focus on enhancing European competitiveness.
In terms of political alliances, the PM criticized Germany’s Manfred Weber-led European People’s Party (EPP) for aligning with left-wing parties, contrasting with the rise of right-wing movements across Europe. He discussed implications for EU policies and alliances.
