Zsuzsanna Jakabos Shines with Stellar Performances at European Aquatics Championships

The third day of the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade witnessed a spectacular display from Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos, as she added to her illustrious career with impressive results in multiple events.

Zsuzsanna Jakabos, a seasoned swimmer at 35, showcased her enduring prowess by securing her 25th and 26th European Championship medals. In the 400m medley, she claimed a commendable bronze, demonstrating her resilience and competitive spirit. Reflecting on her performance, Jakabos shared with Nemzeti Sport:

I did not expect to surpass my morning time, but I am enjoying every moment in the pool. It’s a bit surprising to still be competing in the 400m medley at my age, but I am grateful for the opportunity.”

Later in the day, she further impressed in the 4x100m freestyle relay preliminary race. The swimmer expressed her delight, stating, “I am very happy with our performance today. It was a team effort, and we executed our strategy well.”

Known for her consistency and dedication, Jakabos’s journey in swimming spans over a decade of competitive excellence. She reminisced with the Hungarian Swimming Federation, saying:

I remember winning my first medal at 21, and now, at 35, I am still driven to achieve more. It is not easy, especially with younger competitors pushing the limits, but I am motivated by the challenge.”

With her achievements in Belgrade, Jakabos reaffirms her status as a stalwart in European swimming, inspiring both fans and fellow athletes with her enduring passion and determination. She concluded with a nod to her future plans, saying, “Now, I will focus on recovery and preparing for the next challenges. The journey continues, and I am excited for what lies ahead.”
