Polish President Honors Hungarian Ambassador with Order of Merit

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.06.20.

Andrzej Duda, President of Poland, awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland to Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács, Ambassador of Hungary in Warsaw, on Wednesday.

In his welcome speech, Andrzej Duda acknowledged the Ambassador’s exemplary and sacrificial work in strengthening Polish-Hungarian relations during her seven and a half year mission. He added that he insisted on the personal presentation of the award because of her outstanding service to both nations, which, as he stressed, it has rarely been done during his presidency to recognize the merits of ambassadors.

I can say with full responsibility that it is rare in the diplomatic corps to find an ambassador who fulfills her role in such an extraordinary way as Ambassador Orsolya Kovács did during her mission to Poland.

She is an extremely active and warm person with an excellent understanding of the Polish way of thinking,” the Head of State said in his laudatory speech.

In her speech, the Ambassador used her own example to emphasize the importance of fostering an inter-generational heritage, which, she said, is the key to maintaining the special relationship between Poland and Hungary.
