On Monday, June 17, Wizz Air started direct flights to Brussels Airport in Zaventem. From Monday to Friday, travelers will be able to fly to the main airport of the Belgian capital, while Brussels South Charleroi Airport will continue to be available. Moreover, there is more good news for travelers as Vueling has announced flights to Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country, for this summer.
The launch of the flight to Brussels Airport will make traveling to Brussels much easier, as until now passengers could only reach the Belgian capital via Charleroi Airport, which is 46 kilometers from the capital. Brussels Airport is much closer, only 12 kilometers from the city center, writes Turizmus.com.
“In the second half of this year, 34% more seats are available between the Hungarian and Belgian capitals,
but Wizz Air’s offer on this route is up by an even greater 73% compared to the same period last year, which is an outstanding result,”
emphasized Máté Ritter, Head of Airline Development at Budapest Airport. He added that they are confident that the abundant offer will be maintained after the Hungarian EU Presidency, providing passengers traveling between the two capitals with more travel options, competitive ticket prices, and a boost for tourism between the two countries.
Furthermore, as reported by Turizmus.com, Vueling, a Spanish low-cost airline based in El Prat de Llobregat near Barcelona, has announced flights from Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country, to the Hungarian capital. For the time being, only a flight schedule for the end of year holiday period has been announced; however,
depending on demand, the flights may also continue in the next summer season.
Flights will operate on the route on December 5, 8, 21, 25, 28, and January 1, according to the airline’s booking system, with the cheapest return tickets available from around EUR 150, writes the Basque portal Bilbaohiria. The local site adds that Vueling could even include the route in its next summer flight schedule if there is sufficient demand. The low-cost airline, belonging to the International Airlines Group, already offers flights from Barcelona and Rome to Budapest. No other airline offers a direct connection between Bilbao and Budapest.
