According to Sándor Csányi, President of the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ), UEFA has assured the federation that the cooperation with the organizers and the cities is smooth and that they will do their utmost to ensure that the UEFA Euro 2024 will run as smoothly and safely as possible. In addition, the Hungarian police arrived in Germany with a 32-strong team to assist their German colleagues, writes Világgazdaság.
“A total of around 40,000 fans from Hungary will attend the three matches. The Hungarian Football Federation will provide all the help it can,” said Sándor Csányi. He also noted that Hungarian interpretation will be provided at the entrance gates for those who need it, and that they will ensure that fans can march together to the stadium if they wish.
“In the supporters’ zone, there will be food and drinks and music for Hungarian fans, thus everything is in place to ensure a good time and I am confident that this will help the team to perform well, along with the supporters,” the MLSZ president concluded.
Furthermore, a 32-strong unit of Hungarian police have traveled to Germany to take part in the UEFA Euro 2024 as a support force.
According to an official statement from the police, the large number of Hungarian fans attending the tournament justifies the need for Hungarian police officers to assist the German authorities during the event. Hungarian police officers will be on duty in Germany for as long as the Hungarian national team is in competition. The police team includes colleagues with expertise in the fields of public order, criminal investigation, and border control. They will wear their own uniforms and act as auxiliary police officers, working alongside German officers to maintain public order and security. Fans can see them at airports, railway stations and on major transport routes.
Just a few days before the start of the UEFA Euro 2024, Nemzeti Sport published an interview with one of the national football team’s goalkeepers, Péter Gulácsi.
Gulácsi defended in the preparation match against Israel that ended with a win for Hungary, therefore he will most likely start against Switzerland on Saturday. “The captain and I agreed that when the time was right, he would announce who would start in goal. We stick to that,” the goalkeeper noted in the interview, not responding to speculation.
Reflecting on the game against Ireland, breaking the national team’s unbeaten streak, the RB Leipzig player said that “we went into the game against the Irish still tired, because we had worked hard in Telki (training venue for the Hungarian national football team) for the previous eight or nine days, so it was no surprise that we were more tired.” He added that on Saturday, against Israel, they played a “much more dynamic game.”
When asked about the group matches, Gulácsi pointed out that
the national team knows all three opponents, so they are aware what kind of character they are up against.
“Switzerland and Germany like to have the ball, to dominate the game, and dictate the tempo. The Scots are strong, they have a similar style to the Irish. They look for duels, they like intense football, they are very dangerous from corners and free kicks. By no chance do we expect matches like the one against Israel, where we had more possession and controlled the game. It will be different at the European Championship,” he stressed.
The RB Leipzig goalkeeper stressed the importance of having more possession of the ball than three years ago, as it saves energy. “We are facing different opponents with different fighting styles, but we have nothing to fear.
We are ready for the challenge, we went to Germany in the right condition.”
As Gulácsi has been in Germany for nine years, it is obvious that the tournament will be different for him. The goalkeeper emphasized: “I know the stadiums, the changing rooms, the turf, the atmosphere of the arenas, so that is certainly not a disadvantage. I am confident in the team, I am confident in myself, I am really looking forward to the tournament,” he concluded.
