Alstom and the University of Miskolc (ME) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to enhance talent management and launch innovation projects. This partnership aims to integrate practical training with theoretical knowledge, support talents, and advance the processes and technical solutions in domestic steel structure manufacturing through joint initiatives.
By leveraging the research capabilities and infrastructure of ME and the practical expertise of Alstom Hungary Kft., the collaboration is set to facilitate production, product, and process development of R&D projects (research and development) in Hungary. During the signing ceremony, Zita Horváth, Rector of ME, highlighted the university’s long-standing commitment to aligning theoretical education with practical application, which forms the foundation for effective research and innovation projects with industry partners.
Gáspár Balázs, Managing Director of Alstom Hungary Kft., underscored that a major challenge for manufacturing companies today is maintaining a pipeline of well-trained specialists and a skilled workforce.
He noted that the strategic cooperation aligns closely with the training program at Alstom’s Mátranovák (northern Hungary) factory, where welding and locksmithing courses have been introduced to address workforce needs.
Alstom, a French transport equipment developer, offers an extensive portfolio that includes high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, along with turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, control systems, and digital mobility solutions. Operating in 64 countries, Alstom has maintained a presence in Hungary for over 20 years. Listed on the French stock exchange, Alstom reported revenues of EUR 17.6B for the fiscal year ending March 31.
Public company data indicates that Alstom Hungary Kft. achieved revenues of nearly EUR 36M in 2021, and over EUR 40M in 2022, primarily from foreign sales, although profits decreased from EUR 1.76M to EUR 864K during this period.
