After the European Rowing Championships and the Olympic Qualification Regatta in Szeged (southern Hungary), Hungary will host another international sporting event, the European Universities Rowing Championship.

As the website of the Hungarian Rowing Federation (MESZ) writes, the preliminary plans are that the championship will take place in the newly built facilities of the Katalin Kovács National Kayak-Canoe Academy at Lake Velence in Sukoró (northern shore), between July 11-14, 2027.

“Our aim is to raise the profile of this sporting discipline after the European Universities Rowing Championship by helping MESZ to attract talented young athletes. Another benefit of organizing the event is to encourage the further development of the sport at universities both nationally and internationally, and

its successful hosting will enable us to win the organization of other university competitions in the future,”

said the national federation in a statement. MESZ noted that the event will strengthen quality sports and education at universities and help retain talent, encouraging students to keep up their sporting ambitions.

The event is organized by the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS), the Óbuda University, the Hungarian Rowing Federation, the National Sports Agency of Hungary, and the local authorities concerned.
