The John von Neumann University of Kecskemét (central Hungary) has opened a permanent division in Dubai to achieve its goal of having at least 20 percent of its 5,000 students from abroad, writes Világgazdaság.
According to the statement issued by the university, the establishment of the Dubai office is also significant, because Dubai, as an independent emirate of the United Arab Emirates and a globally significant city, is a representative, almost melting pot, for the international audience of John von Neumann University’s target market.
Because of its location in Kecskemét, John von Neumann University will not only serve the automotive industry, but also the food, agriculture, and financial sectors, providing highly qualified professionals.
This means that the international focus, important from an enrollment perspective, is geographically concentrated in Central Asia and the Middle East.
In addition, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced in 2023, that the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét would double its production area. Recently, in early April, he stressed that the new plant will be ready to start series production by the end of next year.
Students from these two regions are expected to make up more than five percent of the university’s student body by the autumn. The Dubai experience has been so positive, that compared to the 2022-2023 academic year,
the 2024 Dubai enrollment activity has doubled the previous enrollment numbers, with more than 500 foreign students applying to the Hungarian institution.
Therefore, the university aims to target the market in the region, including India and China, from the emirate. To this end, it also wants to be able to personally serve the network of student recruitment agents, which is already an industry in the region, and to operate the sales of the institution’s services from the field.
However, the Dubai office of the John von Neumann University is not just about recruitment, they also want to promote:
Accordingly, a series of academic programs was launched in parallel with the opening ceremony, starting with a full house lecture in English by György Matolcsy, Governor of the Hungarian National Bank.
