The Defense Innovation Research Institute (VIKI), supervised by the Ministry of Defense (HM), and the Swedish SAAB Group, the manufacturer of the Gripen fighter jets, have signed a cooperation agreement including a schedule of specific steps for joint work.
According to Magyar Nemzet, VIKI’s designated CEO, Deputy Secretary of State László Deme, held talks with the management of the SAAB group and agreed on concrete steps for joint work with the Swedish conglomerate along the identified cooperation points in the field of extended reality (XR) technologies, said Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.
The agreement signed between the HM and SAAB in March will lead to the creation of a center of excellence in artificial intelligence, they stressed.
They added that the Swedish side will also participate in the development of the Hungarian Air Force’s fighter jet capability and the virtual training needs of the operational capabilities supporting it, among other activities. In this context, the Hungarian side will launch a pilot project for maintenance training supported by artificial intelligence at its center, coordinated by VIKI.
