Preserving our created world is our common duty, and the order of nature cannot be disturbed, which is why responsible and conscious game management is of paramount importance, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the 150th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Nagykun Hunting Association in Karcag (eastern Hungary).
At the event, the Minister pointed out that “the characteristic image of our landscape includes game species as well as mountains, plains, rivers, and forests. And hunting is a key factor in maintaining healthy game populations with good genetic values.”
We can all be proud of our wildlife, which we can say without modesty is our national treasure. And we must manage this asset responsibly to preserve it for future generations,”
said István Nagy.
He stressed that efforts should be made to establish a smaller but better quality game population, an optimal number of animals that would create harmony between the game management sector, agriculture, forestry, and nature conservation.
In his opinion, it is also thanks to our unique conditions that Hungarian game meat is popular in Europe. In addition to providing a special taste experience, game meat also has a number of physiological benefits, he said. “We must consciously protect our traditions and customs. We must honor the normality, and the daily sacrifice and perseverance of farmers and wildlife professionals who put safe food on the tables of Hungarian families,” the Minister stressed.
He noted that the residents of Karcag, the land of the Kuns in the heart of the Nagykunság region, faithfully preserve and cherish their traditions and are proud of their past and present. “It is our common duty to preserve and maintain the balance of nature, wildlife, and man for future generations,” Nagy concluded.
The day also included a dog and bird show, and children were invited to participate in a handicraft workshop, reports szoljon.hu. Local and regional hunters prepared game dishes, and the organisers provided a variety of cultural shows on the stage.
