More than HUF 3 billion (EUR 7.6 million) is available for Hungarian beekeepers under the latest support program for the sector. The aim of the support is to provide a helping hand for the work of beekeepers and honey production. The funds can also be used for beekeeping knowledge transfer, technical assistance, improving the competitiveness of the beekeeping sector, and marketing activities.
In a press release published on Tuesday, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced that the support titles, resource envelopes, eligibility conditions, and the obligations are a continuation of the measures of the previous Hungarian National Beekeeping Program.
For the implementation period 2024-2027, the program will include 14 support areas with a total annual budget of HUF 3.118 billion, with EU and national co-financing.
The scope of the individual titles, instruments, and the resource envelope of the support titles, as well as the conditions and obligations for eligibility, are set out in detail in the legislation, he added. Applications for support can be submitted from March 31 to May 6.

The funds can also be used for the control of marketed products in the field of beekeeping marketing, communication, promotion, and national coordination. In the area of competitiveness, the funds can be used to purchase equipment for beekeeping organizations, new equipment for beekeeping and transhumance, for the control of bee pests and pathogens, and the purchase of certified breeding material.
