During his visit to Spain, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó held talks with the leaders of automotive, tourism, transport, machinery, aviation, financial, and energy companies. According to the minister, the role of Spanish investors in the Hungarian economy is undeservedly under-reported.

In a Facebook post, he said that “it was good to hear the feedback from Spanish companies, with several business leaders setting an absolute example of Hungarian economic strategy and government economic policy to follow.”

Low taxes, an investment-friendly business environment, and a well-educated workforce are Hungary’s biggest attractions for them.

Mr. Szijjártó added that last year was an extremely difficult year economically due to the war, sanctions, and the resulting inflation, but Hungary overcame these difficulties.

“We have brought down inflation, we have maintained energy security and record-high employment throughout, and we have proved that the Hungarian economy can function without EU funds. The confidence and continued investment of Spanish companies in Hungary have been a great help in this,” he concluded.
