The Chinese Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited’s, (CATL) battery factory in Debrecen (eastern Hungary) is scheduled to start production from 2025, but is already recruiting for manual and physical workers. From February 1, the company will launch a branding and recruitment campaign in the city and surrounding municipalities, targeting local jobseekers, Világgazdaság reports based on local newspaper, dehir.hu.

The company is offering

  • maintenance
  • production
  • quality assurance
  • engineering
  • technical and logistics positions
  • the recruitment of office workers is also underway.

They added that during the campaign, starting on February 1, 2024, the corporation will promote its career site and current vacancies in Debrecen and the surrounding municipalities through public and vehicle advertising, online and print media, and local radio stations.

In the first half of 2024, the company will add more than 50 people to its workforce, which is expected to grow gradually throughout the year.

They say that in addition to graduates and skilled staff, CATL is also keen to employ trainees, who have significant career opportunities once they are integrated into the innovative company.

Local recruitment will continue in the second half of the year, with the number of physical workers expected to exceed the number of office staff. Some of the jobs require a university degree and English language skills,  which are also an advantage for those with a secondary school education.

In the spring, several Chinese professionals will temporarily arrive in Debrecen to train local staff, transferring high quality and technological knowledge.

CATL’s key value is continuous improvement and innovation, which is not only reflected in its development and production processes, but also in the training of its employees. The company is committed to playing an important role in nurturing talent in Debrecen and the region, and will soon start discussions on collaboration opportunities with the University of Debrecen.

CATL has already signed a cooperation agreement with the Vocational Training Center of Debrecen. Last November, CATL’s General Manager for European Operations, Jason Chen, noted that the company was looking to build strong partnerships based on trust with residents in the city and surrounding communities. This was reflected in the company’s decision to sign the cooperation agreement. Thanks to this, students will be able to learn about the latest technology in the industry, experience what teamwork in an international company means, and meet a wide range of professional challenges.
