The number of registered jobseekers is at its lowest since the 1989 regime change. Last year, the National Employment Service recorded an average of 232,000 people looking for jobs per month, marking a further improvement by 6,000 compared to the previous record year of 2022, as announced by the Ministry for National Economy.

Examining the monthly data, the number of jobseekers dipped below 225,000 in December, representing the second-lowest figure in the past three decades.

The government’s objective is to consistently increase activity to restore economic growth, boost consumption, and maintain the investment rate above 25 percent.

The statement emphasizes the goal of reintegrating as many citizens as possible into the primary labor market in the foreseeable future.

To support this initiative, businesses can now apply for the program facilitating the transition from one generation to the next, starting this Wednesday. With an innovative plan backed by HUF 2.6B (EUR 6.8M), businesses can seek wage supplements to facilitate a seamless workforce transition.

The project’s aim is to ensure that the new generation learns from experienced pre-pension employees. This support will assist hundreds of jobseekers in securing employment and quickly gaining the experience needed to establish their position in the labor market.
