Tiszafüred (Northern Great Plain region of central Hungary) has been a town for 40 years, and this year it is celebrating with a variety of developments and programs, reports Turizmus.com. The renovation of the town center will continue, three new tourist attractions will be added, and there will be a whole range of activities for visitors.
In 2023, Tiszafüred’s pavements and street lighting were renewed, a modern stormwater drainage system was built, the railway station was renovated, and the Tariczky Endre Archaeological Exhibition opened in June. The renovation of the old kindergarten building was also completed, where the local history exhibition named after László Darabos (local collector) will open next year, Mayor Imre Ujvári announced.
The mayor added that
the renovation of the outer part of the town center will continue,
specifically up to Kossuth Square, where the project includes the renovation of the pavement and the green areas, and Deák Square will also be improved. The largest playground on Lake Tisza will be extended with new elements, and further improvements to the open-air beach and Halas Square are being planned.
Three new tourist attractions will be added later this year. One is the Nature Diving Playhouse and Hiking Center, while the other is the László Darabos Local History Exhibition. Furthermore, the Reformed Visitor Center will also open and will take visitors to Tiszafüred and the settlements around Lake Tisza.
On January 9, the 200 square meter artificial ice rink will be inaugurated on the main square of the town. The rink will be open every day of the week. In addition, a buffet will be available during opening hours and a limited number of skates will be available for rent.
