Hungary Today 2024.01.03.

From the beginning of June, low-cost Irish airline, Ryanair, will operate twice weekly flights between Faro in southern Portugal and Budapest, reports Turizmus.com.

Ryanair has added another Budapest route to its booking system. After the island of Skiathos, Greece and Milan in Italy, Faro will now be available on the low-cost carrier’s summer schedule.

From June 2 to October 24, the airline will operate two direct flights a week between the Hungarian capital and the holiday resort in southern Portugal.

The flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

Ryanair announced its 2024 summer schedule at the end of November in 2023, offering three million seats to Hungarians and travelers to Hungary, but at the time the new routes were not yet available on the booking system.

Fact

Faro is a municipality, the southernmost city, in the Algarve region of Portugal. It is one of Portugal’s most favored coastal cities and also one of Europe’s sunniest places, where residents and travelers seeking winter sun get to enjoy around 300 sunny days every year. There is an archaeological museum and a “Bishops’ Palace,” a Renaissance cathedral that was heavily bombed during World War II, but later rebuilt. Nearby in Estoi are Roman ruins, and Albufeira, also nearby, is a formerly quaint fishing village influenced by the Moors in the 8th century. It is situated in a cliffside location, and has become famous for its beaches and nightlife.
