The Four Souls of Coyote, the Hungarian animated film sent to the Academy Awards, will be screened in Los Angeles with members of the Academy among audiences. The movie is based on an Indian creation story, and has already won several prestigious international awards. The Oscars ceremony will take place in Hollywood next March.
The animated film that Hungary nominated in this year’s Academy Awards, will be screened in cinemas in Los Angeles. The unique visual world of Áron Gauder’s film, which has been more than ten years in the making, is based on an Indian creation story, following a group of young Indians as they fight against oil companies who want to destroy their ancestral land to build their pipelines.

The movie will be screened several times this week in the City of Angels, and the audience will be joined by members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the experts who will select the winners from the 88 foreign films nominated for an Oscar, reports Híradó.hu. The Four Souls of Coyote will represent Hungary in this field, with very good chances, as
the Hollywood film experts write that the Hungarian film can pass unhindered at the first classification.
The film has already won awards at several foreign festivals, including Annecy and Shanghai.
It may seem strange that an animated film has been chosen by a country for the prestigious awards show, however, this is something that could be a real game-changer, as it is quite special. “They really love Hungarian films, Hungarian film production, and the Hungarian film industry,” producer Réka Temple emphasized about the members of the Academy.
The shortlist will be announced on December 21 and the Academy Awards will be held in Hollywood next March.
