The Hungarian national team finished with three medals at the European Classic Open Powerlifting Championships in Tartu, Estonia.
Enahoro Asein won the 83 kg event, and won the gold medal in deadlift with a world record 380 kg, while the third medal was won by Bálint P. Nagy, who came third in the 93 kg event after fighting his way up from Group B in bench press.

According to the Hungarian Powerlifting Federation on Wednesday, one of the core members of the national team, Áron Hegedűs, who was supposed to compete in the 105 kg event, injured his hand during the warm-up and has already undergone surgery.
Lóránd Berke, the president of the federation, stressed that they had a successful European Championships.
“On the one hand, Hungary has a gold medal at the European Championships again after 19 years, and on the other hand, the Hungarian competitors have excelled. In addition to the world record, the national team also set several individual records, and there was also a national record. I am very sorry that Áron Hegedűs could not compete and had to undergo surgery due to his injury, we wish him a speedy recovery,” he concluded.
Last year the Hungarians were 13th in the international ranking, but this year they finished fifth in a field of 25 countries.
