Hungary will contribute EUR 100,000 to the humanitarian aid of civilians fleeing Gaza, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, responsible for programs to help persecuted Christians, announced on his Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.
On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Tristan Azbej represented the Hungarian government at the Gaza aid conference in Paris convened by French President Emmanuel Macron to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population in Gaza.
he wrote.
Azbej continued in his post: “In addition to the painfully urgent humanitarian tasks, we must not give way to distortions and relativization of events. We strongly condemn the attacks by the Hamas terrorist organization against the Israeli people. We recognize Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism.”
He also stressed that the hostages taken by Hamas must be released immediately. “Every effort must be made to allow foreign nationals, including Hungarians, to leave the territory. This conflict should not escalate into a war between states. We know from history that a war in the Middle East has tragic consequences far beyond the region,” he concluded.
