A total of 44,000 photos were submitted to the Hungary 365 photo competition by professional and amateur photographers, said Csaba Dömötör, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, in a video uploaded on his social media page. This is Hungary’s most prominent photo competition with the aim of showcasing the pride of Hungary, reports Magyar Nemzet.
This year, it was also possible to apply in new categories, such as portrait and street photography.
Csaba Dömötör noted that the jury is made up of renowned photographers who have already started the evaluation process. The jury will award valuable prizes to the best entries. The first prize in each category will be HUF 2 million forints (EUR 5,234), the second prize HUF 1 million (EUR 2,617), and the third prize HUF 500,000 (EUR 1,308). The special prize will be HUF 2 million (EUR 5,234).
Originally launched in 2019, Hungary 365 aims to showcase the beauty of Hungary and all that Hungarians can be proud of through the work of professional and amateur photographers. The novelty of this year’s competition is that there will be new categories: in addition to nature, landscape, and architecture, there will also be categories for portraits, community events, and street photography.
This year, the jury of the competition has also been expanded: in addition to the chairman, Ottó Kaiser, Éva Keleti, László Haris, Imre Potyó, and Tamás Rizsavi, the jury was joined by Ábel Szalontai, photographer and assistant professor at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), and Árpád Kurucz, photographer.
The organizers aim to present the selected images as widely as possible, for example in publications, exhibitions, and online galleries.
