A survey conducted by Nielsen found that 91 percent of respondents were satisfied with the World Athletics Championships in Budapest held in August, while 81 percent were extremely satisfied, Index reports.
The survey was carried out among 8,313 ticket buyers and the results were a clear confirmation of what International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) President Sebastian Coe said. The results support the ideas expressed by Sebastian Coe at the end of the World Athletics Championships that
the successful event could serve as a basis for a possible Olympic Games in Budapest.
The survey shows that 83 percent of the respondents claim that they would follow more athletics events in the future after attending the World Championships. This is a significantly higher proportion than the figures for the two previous World Championships. At the last event in Eugene, Oregon and the 2019 event in Doha, Qatar, 71 percent and 50 percent of participants respectively were motivated to follow or attend more athletics events in the future.
The survey also found that the most popular events at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest included the women’s 4x400m relay, the men’s 100m sprint, the men’s 4x100m relay, and the men’s and women’s pole vault.
More than half of the fans from abroad said they had traveled to the Hungarian capital to experience the cultural aspects of Hungary, while the biggest motivation for Hungarian fans was the chance to take part in an international world event.
